Thanks for trying it also, Roy.
It may not be clear what these (salvage and chkbas) programs do.
If Rory's BASIC file is truly on a bad sector disk, then he can't
copy the file very well, meaning he can't get the file off the disk and
on to a PC directory for chkbas to be run on.
My salvage program, on the other hand, will retrieve the BASIC
program off the disk, as it must read from a file on disk.  I'm pretty
sure salvage will trap on error sectors, so at least up to the
error sector will be retrieved.  Just in case the salvage program
errors out and exits with an ERROR xx message, it would be
necessary to close the writing channel to save what had been retrieved.
Just a CLOSE #1:CLOSE #2 would do, but I think
it traps and automatically does that.
I suspect that the entire BASIC program can be salvaged, but
if there really is a bad sector, it would require some sector dumps
and appending to the first part of the file to maybe be able to
retrieve more of the program.

Yed I just played Necromancer not too long ago. Very good and very hard game.
I love it. Buried Bucks is unfamilar to me.

Larry,

William has asked me not to release the source code yet, but the disk
images will be in ATR format. That was the main objective of getting
Advan off the copy protected disk and on to a flexible format for
laptop/portable 8 bits! Now you can code some cool stuff on the road!

The PDF's are scanned from the manual, the text was then OCR'd (There
will be a few typos and missed editing) and then brought into Word.

I also had bought the entire suite from Advan Systems when I first saw
it in Antic & Analog. I believed it cost around $100 plus shipping.
I've had fun with it. It has everything for a BASIC development kit.

Rory

Was the NTSC XEGS cartridge release in color? i remember this being in
color  but I can't find my cart at the moment and the rom dump I have
is B/W in both the atari++ and atari800 emulators. is this a problem
with my rom dump? the emulators? or is it that *my* memory is failing
me and it really was in B/W?? any help on this issue would be greatly
appreciated. in the meantime i'll keep looking for that cart... it's
gotta be here somewhere! :-)

mark.
